llm

A command-line tool and Python library for dozens of models: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and local ones. Prompts and responses are logged to SQLite, with embeddings, schemas and tools built in.

Who it is for

For terminal lovers who want to call models from shell scripts and pipes.

How to start

  1. Install: pip install llm (or brew install llm, uv tool install llm).
  2. Save a key: llm keys set openai.
  3. Ask something: llm "Ten fun names for a pet pelican" or pipe a file: cat myfile.py | llm -s "Explain this code".

Steps are taken from the README. Check the current version in the repository before running them.
