Glossary
Vector database
Also: vector database · vector store · pgvector
A store for embeddings with fast nearest-neighbour search. It finds passages close in meaning to a query — the backbone of RAG.
Example
The pgvector extension adds a vector type and nearest-neighbour search to Postgres, so a regular database is often enough for RAG.
